GREENCITYBUILDINGCOMPANY is focused on socially, ecologically, and financially profitable urban development, and uses this "triple bottom line" for each project that it is involved in. GCBC believes that modern architecture, development, and investment can and should be positive forces within communities, helping to create great places for people to live, work, and play while doing their part to reduce the pressures of sprawl at the suburban fringe.

                    "business can be a force for good.
                     you can make the world a better place and make money at the same time."

                                    - pierre omidyar, creator of ebay

                    "land development is a responsibility, not a right."
                                    - j.c. nichols, urban land institute founding member

GREENCITYBUILDINGCOMPANY projects are modern, neighborhood appropriate, reinforce the urban environment while helping to reduce sprawl, and make economic rates of return. typical projects include:

                     ::    urban infill housing and custom residential; for sale and for rent
                     ::    mixed-use development
                     ::    neighborhood-serving retail
                     ::    boutique office, commercial, hospitality

we particularly believe that mixed economic, density, and style developments within communities reinforce our greatest eclectic neighborhoods, and that small- and mid-scale architecture and development by definition better reflects and serves existing communities compared to larger, corporate creations.

GREENCITYBUILDINGCOMPANY principals have experience in all aspects of architecture and real estate development and ownership, and have been involved in the design and/or development of over 2,000 residential units and 1,000,000 square feet of commercial space. projects have ranged from high density, mixed-use redevelopments at over 100 units per acre in urban cores to affordable housing to custom single family homes to boutique hospitality, office, and retail space.  projects have been completed on the united states west coast and in shanghai, china.  GCBC was founded in 2005 by matthew foss and wan lee, who remain the managing principals:
