GREENCITYBUILDINGCOMPANY is the architect for morton, a three house small lot subdivision in the echo park neighborhood of los angeles.
a modern infill development, the project bridges the commercial thoroughfare and associated apartments with the adjacent single family neighborhood. the project maintains access to private open space for all houses and remains a traditional development with straightforward construction means and methods including slab on grade foundations and wood structural systems with only limited steel. the project employs extensive sustainable elements and features including high performance envelopes, renewable and low/no VOC finishes, passive solar orientation, on site water retention and filtration, water efficient landscaping, and a pedestrian focus.
