GREENCITYBUILDINGCOMPANY is the architect for the hollyridge house, a new home in the hollywoodland neighborhood of los angeles.
the house is designed to address an extremely steep downslope site on a substandard street and with a history of landslides, responding to both the desires of the owner but also to the strict zoning of the applicable specific plan as well as city hillside codes. reflecting its quiet, developed residential neighborhood the house is deferential yet modern and site specific, with program designed to embrace the site advantages (views, existing mature oak trees) and address disadvantages (slope, street width/access). as with all GCBC projects the house incorporates numerous sustainable features, including low-e dual-pane fenestration, multi-zone HVAC systems, tankless water heaters, solar orientation and fenestration designed to maximize passive heating and cooling, and native/water efficient landscaping on zoned drip irrigation systems.
