GREENCITYBUILDINGCOMPANY is the architect for the descanso 2 homes.
a modern gut-renovation and significant expansion of two existing small vernacular homes on one lot, the project reflects its location in silver lake, the eclectic los angeles neighborhood where MCM masters including neutra, ain, shindler, and lautner all worked. GCBC worked closely with the owner to achieve their vision of seamless indoor-outdoor living, but on a strict budget precluding steel or other complicated structure. the project employs extensive sustainable elements and features including future solar photovoltaic systems, high performance envelopes, renewable and low/no VOC finishes, and passive solar orientation. The houses' shared yard is lushly landscaped.
