GREENCITYBUILDINGCOMPANY is the architect and developer for the descanso duplex. the project responds to and takes advantage of its location on a very steep site and very narrow street.
the project is distinctly modern, reflecting its location in silver lake, the eclectic los angeles neighborhood where modern masters including neutra, ain, shindler, and lautner all worked. the project is focused on indoor-outdoor connections and living, pedestrian orientation and connection to the street, all while addressing the difficultness of the steep site. the project employs extensive sustainable elements and features including solar photovoltaic systems, high performance envelopes, renewable and low/no VOC finishes, passive solar orientation, water efficient landscaping, and a pedestrian focus.
